Sodom - Obsessed By Cruelty, In The Sign Of Evil (1986,1984)
Эти два альбома, а точнее мини-альбом "In The Sign Of Evil" и первый для группы полноформатный альбом "Obsessed By Cruelty", оказали большое влияние на ранний Black Metal. В частности "In The Sign Of Evil" считается значимым альбомом первой волны Black Metal.
Данное издание включает в себя оба альбома. Следует отметить, что альбом "Obsessed by Cruelty" записывался дважды. Это связано с тем, что Steamhammer отвергла первую запись альбома и на LP Steamhammer была выпущена вторая запись. Также следует отметить, что на CD этот альбом официально не издавался и видимо по этому все основные версии CD содержат первую запись. Но это издание замечательно тем, что содержит вторую запись альбома, видимо с LP звук и снимали, хотя они об этом и пишут, но почему-то только для "In the Sign of Evil". Но к сожалению, для меня, этот диск - ремастер.

Vi sålde våra hemman och gav oss sedan ut, som fågelen bortflyger, när sommaren tar slut. Han kommer en gång åter när våren skrider fram, men vi få aldrig skåda vårt kära fosterland.
Och när vi kommo till den liverpoolska hamn begynte ångerns tårar så stritt att bryta fram. Det blev en hjärtans sveda i bröstet på var och en. Man talar blott om Sverige och om sitt förra hem.
Vi packades tillsammans uti ett osunt kvav. Det var för oss att skåda liksom en öppen grav. Och födan som vi fraktat ifrån vår svenska jord den blev oss nu förbjuden att taga med ombord.
Och när vi hade seglat en vecka eller två, ett mörker däcket höljde och bredde sig därpå. Ej se varann vi kunde, knappt andas eller gå. Det var en gruvlig plåga för stora och för små.
Nu blir en ömklig hunger, med sorg och grät och gny. En jämmer som sig tränger till himlens höga sky. Och döden gruvligt härjar bland mänskorna ombord. Man ser de döda kastas i havets vilda flod.
Det är det som grämer mitt hjärta till min död. Att se de arma barnen här gråta efter bröd. Vi kunde ej dem hjälpa, ej lindra deras snöp. De måste nu få gråta och sedan därpå dö.
Black Metal (дословно - "Чёрный метал") – один из основных жанров экстремальной метал-музыки, зародившийся в начале-середине 1980-х. Своим названием жанр обязан британской группе Venom и их альбому "Black Metal" (1982), который обладал "сырым" звучанием, а тексты его были связаны с оккультизмом, по стилю же альбом был выдержан в ключе хэви- и спид-метала.
Непосредственно же годами зарождения самого блэк-метала можно считать 1983 и 1984 – именно в этот период была издана демо-запись швейцарской группы Hellhammer, под названием "Satanic Rites"; на сборнике рок-метал-музыки "Scandinavian Metal Attack" выходит первые два трека шведской группы Bathory "Sacrifice" и "Return Of Darkness And Evil", а затем и дебютный альбом Bathory, одноимённый названию группы. Также стоит отметить дебютный мини-альбом немецкой группы Sodom, под названием "In The Sign Of Evil".
Вышеперечисленные релизы можно условно отнести к "первой волне блэк-метала". Суть первой волны в том, что блэк-метал ещё полностью не отделился от спид- и трэш-метала, к данной волне, как правило, относят блэк-альбомы, выходившие до начала 1990-х годов.
"Вторая волна блэк-метала", это уже сформировавшийся и самобытный жанр, на становление которого повлияли, в основном, норвежские группы, и частично шведские, в начале и середине 1990-х годов. Из норвежских групп выделяется так называемый "Чёрный круг", который объединял в себе норвежских блэк-металистов, имевших антихристианское мировоззрение. В качестве наиболее влиятельных норвежских блэк-метал альбомов можно привести следующие (список неполный):
Darkthrone – "A Blaze In The Northern Sky" (1992), "Transilvanian Hunger" (1994);
Mayhem – "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" (1994);
Burzum – "Burzum" (1992), "Det Som Engang Var" (1993);
Satyricon – "Dark Medieval Times" (1993);
Emperor – "In the Nightside Eclipse" (1994);
Другие известные и влиятельные группы жанра: Gorgoroth, Tormentor, Beherit, Dissection, Carpathian Forest, Marduk, Watain, Dark Funeral, Summoning, Nargaroth и другие.
Основными чертами блэк-метала являются: быстрый темп композиций, "сырое" звучание, активное использование тремоло, бласт-бита, сильного дисторшна. В качестве вокала, в основном, применяется скрим. Важной составляющей жанра является идеология, основанная на сатанизме и язычестве, также многие музыканты используют мрачный сценический образ – корпспэйнт на лице, кожаные наручи с длинными шипами, пулемётные ленты, перевёрнутые кресты и т. д.
